Teach For America seeks to elimiate educational inequity in this nation by recuriting, selecting, and training individuals from across the country to teach and commit to creating change for all students. These individuals begin their path with a two-year commitment to teach in low-income urban and rural public schools. During this time they are called corps members. Deeply affected by their experience in the classroom, after two years, they join our alumni network and continue to advocate for students from many different. roles in education and other fields. In 2003, TFA Miami-Dade was established with 50 corps members. During 2013-2014 school year 314 Miami-Dade corps members served 21,980 students. Teach For America Miami-Dade currently have an alumni base of nearly 300 of alumni working and leading in various career trajectories in south Florida.
